Penny's
writing career includes assignments such as ad copy and web copy for
Embracing Hue Ltd., logo design for Au Pair for Pets,
writing/photography workshops for
WriteCraft, Inspired2Write, and the
City of Tempe, Arizona,
parenting material for Garden and Hearth, technical manuals for Walsh
America, product reviews for various
publications,
travel features for Camping & RV
Magazine, a year of family activities
columns for
Camping & RV Magazine and Warner Wrangler newspaper, plus
monthly
pet care
articles and photos for Loving Pets
Magazine and Florida Pet Book.
Twenty years of rescue work make Penny something of a pet
expert, and that passion for helping animals and educating people about
them works well with her writing talent. You may listen to her podcasts
about pet rescue, feral cats, and senior-special needs
cat care on Animal Talk
Naturally or at PetsByPenny.com.
She was a guest speaker at the Virtual
Dog
Expo in September 2006, and in July 2007, DogCastRadio from the UK
interviewed her.
Two anthologies published by Adams Media also contain her stories. Like A Rock appears in Cup of Comfort for Mothers & Sons, released in April 2005. Her latest story, Honey, appears in The Healing Touch of Horses, released in February 2007.
Her
second passion is photography. She says poetry
and photography also provide inspiration to grow and explore
new ideas. Although she doesn't consider herself a skilled poet, Penny
won first place for Adult Rhyming
Poetry in
the October 2003 Prairie Hill Writing Contest.
Penny
and her husband live in Austin, Texas, as of September 2006. She shares
her assignments with
a staff of
office assistants that include six grandchildren and several
four-legged
editorial consultants. In her leisure time, she cultivates
antique roses and updates the PetsByPenny Blog.
