Penny's
writing career includes instructional materials written for
workshops
sponsored by WriteCraft,
Inspired2Write, and the City of Tempe Parks
and Recreation
department,
parenting material for Garden and
Hearth, technical manuals for Walsh
America, product reviews for various
publications,
travel features for Camping & RV
Magazine, a family activities
column for Camping & RV Magazine
and Warner Wrangler
newspaper, plus
monthly
pet care
articles and photos for Loving Pets
Magazine. Her story, Like A
Rock, appears
in Cup
of Comfort for Mothers & Sons (Adams Media). In February
2007, Adams Media released The
Healing Touch of Horses, which contains Penny's most recent
anthology story, Honey. Her
hobby is photography, which grew into a wonderful complement to her
writing. She says the challenge of competing in poetry
and photography contests provides inspiration to grow and explore
new ideas. In October 2003, Penny won first place for Adult Rhyming
Poetry in
the Prairie Hill Writing Contest. As of
September 2006, Penny
and her husband live in Austin, Texas, and she
shares her assignments with
eight
rotating
office assistants, which include six grandchildren and several
four-legged
editorial consultants. After
twenty years in animal rescue work, Penny opened two new
businesses in 2005 Her new businesses serve pets, pet owners, and pet
care
professionals. Listen to her pod cast interviews at Animal Talk Naturally,
and visit her pet and pet industry resources and services at Pets by Penny
and Reiki4Paws. An online boutique offers
custom and handmade products for pets and people too. In
her leisure time, she cultivates antique roses. The
annual explosion of color and
fragrance provides inspiration to experiment with a new poetic form
each year. Penny says "I'm definitely not a skilled poet, but I'm
fascinated by poetry and love learning about it". |
